Tight security for inauguration of Jagannath temple in Digha; CM Mamata Banerjee to attend

The newly constructed Jagannath Temple in Digha, East Midnapore district, will be inaugurated on 30th April by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Modeled after the famous Puri Jagannath Temple in Odisha, the temple’s opening is set to be a significant event for the region. The inauguration coincides with the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, a time when large crowds are expected to gather for the ceremony. CM Banerjee will arrive in Digha on 28th April, and the temple complex will host a special grand yajna on 29th April.

In preparation for the event, East Midnapore police have implemented stringent security measures. Around 2,000 police personnel will be deployed over the course of the three-day event to maintain order. Additional security forces will be stationed in plainclothes, both within the temple complex and other key areas of Digha. Drone surveillance and CCTV cameras will further enhance monitoring during the event. The security measures are particularly heightened for 30th April, when the Chief Minister is expected to attend.

Authorities are conducting thorough checks of all entry and exit points, including vehicle inspections, to ensure public safety. These measures are intended to handle the expected large influx of visitors while maintaining strict control over the event's security. The deployment of a robust security plan reflects the importance of the inauguration and the significant religious and cultural impact it is expected to have on the region.
